Brian M. Rothschild focuses on recapitalizing businesses though both in-court and out-of-court debt restructuring. Mr. Rothschild represents debtors, ad hoc and official committees of creditors, individual creditors, municipal bond issuers, investors, and lenders. He has resolved complex matters in a variety of industries including real estate, retail, publishing, automotive, entertainment and financial services, and specializes in issues arising from the administration of banks and bank holding companies. Mr. Rothschild also handles bankruptcy appellate matters, including cases before the United States Supreme Court.

Prior to joining Akin Gump, Mr. Rothschild was law clerk to Associate Chief Justice Matthew B. Durrant of the Supreme Court of Utah for 2007-08.

Mr. Rothschild received his B.S. magna cum laude from the University of Utah in 1997 and his J.D. in 2007 from the University of Southern California School of Law, where he was a member of Order of the Coif and served on the staff of the Southern California Law Review. Mr. Rothschild served as intern to the Honorable Richard L. Speer of the Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio in 2005 and as intern to the Honorable Richard M. Neiter of the Bankruptcy court for the Central District of California in 2006. He is a member of the California Bar.

Mr. Rothschild is the author of the article, "The Illogic of No Limits on Bankruptcy," published in Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal in 2007.
