Kyle Davis’s practice focuses on general energy and natural resources-related M&A and project contracts.
Mr. Davis has advised clients on joint venture, M&A and capital markets transactions, restructuring and general corporate matters with the emphasis on the energy and natural resources sector.
Mr. Davis’s experience includes advising—
- Rosneft on its USD 1.6 billion acquisition of PDVSA's share of a German oil refining joint venture with BP plc
- the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the new terms for the Kumtor gold mining project
- a joint venture between Sasol, PETRONAS and Uzbekneftegaz in connection with a gas-to-liquids project in Uzbekistan
- a group of shareholders in the restructuring of an investment in a Russian polymetal mining venture
- a major Russian oil company on farm-in and joint operations arrangements in relation to a gas E&P project in the UAE
- Gazprom Neft on production sharing and joint operations arrangements in respect of offshore blocks in Equatorial Guinea
- Mechel in connection with mining sector acquisitions and general corporate / securities matters
- Bank Saint-Petersburg and M.video on their respective IPOs with listings on RTS and MICEX
- Kinross Gold on its USD 3 billion acquisition of Bema Gold
- Weatherford International Oilfield Services on its acquisition of NGKS, a Russian pipeline inspection company
- the sellers in the sale of an interest in two gold mines in Kazakhstan and creation of a gold mining JV with SUN Group.
Mr. Davis received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2004. Mr. Davis speaks Russian and is a member of the New York bar. Before joining Akin Gump, Mr. Davis worked in international law firms in Moscow and New York.
