David A. Jones' practice centers on class actions involving many types of industries, as well as litigation and arbitrations involving the insurance and securities industries. Representative matters include numerous life insurance sales practices class actions in state and federal courts around the country; securities fraud and accounting malpractice litigation involving a defunct consumer electronics retailer; litigation over the validity and enforceability of medical device patents worth billions of dollars; intellectual property and trust and estate litigation involving a major winery; a major oil and gas dispute involving two prominent families; and litigation involving ownership of the copyrights to the Star Trek movies and television programs.
In addition to his work in these areas, Mr. Jones also has handled cases involving a wide variety of other insurance and securities issues, energy contract disputes, liability for environmental contamination, mergers and acquisitions and other matters of corporate control and governance, as well as pro bono cases in which he represented individual victims of real estate home equity fraud.
Mr. Jones received his B.S. cum laude in finance and marketing in 1982 and his J.D. cum laude in 1986 from Boston University. While in law school, Mr. Jones also took a series of graduate-level business management and corporate finance courses.
Mr. Jones is a member of the state bars of California and Texas. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California and the Western and Southern Districts of Texas and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
