Douglas W. Killip has extensive experience in structuring complex commercial real estate transactions, with a particular emphasis on partnership taxation, REITs, REMICs and tax matters relating to international and tax-exempt investors. He is also knowledgeable in the area of corporate taxation, with a concentration in mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Killip has provided advice to many real estate clients on a wide range of tax, real estate and partnership issues, including matters relating to structuring joint ventures and partnerships, REITs, REMICs, preferred equity and mezzanine financing, sale-leaseback transactions and the work-out of troubled projects. Mr. Killip has worked on the tax structuring of a number of international joint venture projects in Europe, Asia and South America. He also has extensive experience in structuring tax-free reorganizations and asset acquisitions.
Mr. Killip received his A.B. in economics in 1984 from Boston College and his J.D. in 1987 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York Bar Association and is admitted to the New York Bar.
