Daniel Moffett’s practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property procurement and protection with a focus on patent and trademark litigation. Mr. Moffett’s litigation experience includes pretrial support in complex patent-infringement litigation involving industries as diverse as medical devices and Internet applications. He also has pretrial and trial experience representing clients in federal trademark infringement and unfair competition actions, including clients in the retail grocery industry and the entertainment industry. Mr. Moffett’s litigation experience also includes pretrial experience in copyright litigation matters and pretrial and trial experience before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
In addition to litigation, Mr. Moffett’s practice includes prosecution of trademark and patent applications; licensing and assignment of patents, trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual property; and counseling clients regarding intellectual property matters. His experience in these areas includes drafting and negotiating complex licenses for clients in a wide range of industries, including biotechnology, civil engineering and retail; performing trademark-clearance and patentability analyses; and drafting and prosecuting patent applications in various industries, including civil and environmental engineering.
Mr. Moffett received his B.S. in microbiology in 2000 and his J.D. with high honors in 2005 from the University of Texas at Austin. At the University of Texas School of Law, he was an articles editor on the Review of Litigation and a member of the Order of the Coif. Mr. Moffett is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and admitted to practice before the U.S. district courts for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
Mr. Moffett actively serves on the National Kidney Foundation of South and Central Texas Golf Classic committee and chairs the San Antonio office’s Associate and Counsel Committee.
