Edward P. Christian has extensive experience representing national and international clients with domestic and cross-border financial activities involving private, syndicated, project and structured transactions. He assists investment fund, investment bank, bondholder and banking clients with leasing, loan, investment, joint venture and mergers and acquisition-related transactions.

Mr. Christian’s practice includes assisting investment fund and public and private companies involved in the capital markets, transportation, energy and tax-exempt sectors, as well as other complex and multicurrency financial transactions.

In the investment funds area, Mr. Christian assists clients interested in establishing new funds and their operational parameters, as well as with structuring transactions to comply with the fund’s federal regulatory requirements.

In the transportation finance area, Mr. Christian assists clients with structuring complex commercial aviation and transportation transactions and purchasing and selling commercial aircraft, parts and equipment; shipping containers; and other transportation-related equipment and services, with particular emphasis on multijurisdictional and capital markets financial transactions.

In the energy finance area, he assists bondholders, financiers and sponsors on large energy leasing, construction, operation and capital markets financing and acquisition transactions involving private, public and independent power producers.

Mr. Christian has significant experience with insolvency-related transactional matters, representing investment funds, banks, financiers, bondholders and other institutional and private investors and creditors in large chapter 11 reorganizations, including Philadelphia Newspapers, Rhodes Homes, Uno Restaurants, Chemtura, American Color Graphics, Refco, Comair, Northwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Atlas Air, Hawaiian Airlines, Air Wisconsin, United Air Lines, US Airways, Flag Telecom and Worldcom, among others. In addition, he advises clients in other formal and out-of-court business and financial restructurings that involve evaluation, negotiation and documentation of financial transactions.

Mr. Christian regularly speaks at local and international conferences on topics involving investment funds, capital markets, structured finance, project finance, insolvency, commercial aircraft finance and equipment leasing. He also published an article titled, "Adding Collateral Realization Financing to Enhanced Equipment Trust Certificates: An Argument for the Collateral Realization Credit Facility and Rating Agency Endorsement Thereof," Airfinance Journal, A Supplement: 2005 Guide to Aviation Lawyers (March 2005).

Mr. Christian received his B.A. in 1987 from the University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School. While at USC Law, Mr. Christian was a staff editor of the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal, and he participated in an externship with Hon. John E. Ryan, U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Central District of California.

Prior to law school, he served as a lieutenant and naval aviator in the United States Navy.

Mr. Christian is admitted to the New York, California and District of Columbia bars.
