Estela Díaz focuses on commercial litigation and labor and employment matters. She has also represented companies and individuals in a variety of criminal and regulatory investigations involving state and federal governmental authorities. In addition, Ms. Díaz has experience conducting internal investigations involving allegations of misconduct against senior executives of public companies. In the employment context, she has litigated employment discrimination suits and putative class actions involving wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state law.
Immediately prior to joining Akin Gump, Ms. Díaz was a trial attorney at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s New York District Office, where she litigated individual and class actions involving discrimination and harassment.
Ms. Díaz is currently a member of the New York office’s diversity committee.
Ms. Díaz received her A.B. cum laude in 1997 from Harvard College and her J.D. in 2003 from Harvard Law School. She is a member of the New York and California bars and is admitted to practice before the U.S. district courts for the Southern and Eastern districts of New York, the Northern and Eastern districts of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
Ms. Díaz is fluent in Spanish.
