Biography
  • Advises clients on financial restructuring matters.

Erica Reeves is an associate in the firm’s financial restructuring practice. She advises debtors, creditors and other stakeholders in chapter 11 proceedings.

Prior to joining Akin, Erica interned for the U.S. Trustee’s Office of the Northern District of Georgia. She also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Wendy Hagenau, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Erica earned her J.D. from Emory University School of Law, where she served as a notes and comments editor for the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal.  

Representative Work
  • Endo International: Counsel to the Official Committee of Opioid Claimants in the chapter 11 cases of Endo International and its affiliates, an American-Irish generics and specialty branded pharmaceutical company, involving hundreds of billions of dollars of asserted claims.
  • GWG: Counsel to the Official Committee of Bondholders in the chapter 11 cases of GWG Holdings and its affiliates, a financial services firm that invests in secondary life insurance assets and sells life insurance-backed bonds, involving over $2 billion in liabilities.
  • GenesisCare: Counsel to an ad hoc group of secured creditors and DIP lenders in the chapter 11 cases of GenesisCare, a global health care provider specializing in cancer treatment, involving $1.7 billion in liabilities.
  • Crédito Real: Counsel to an ad hoc group of unsecured noteholders and lenders in the restructuring of Crédito Real and its affiliates, a Mexican nonbank financial institution, involving more than $2 billion in liabilities.
  • Rite Aid: Counsel to the Official Committee of Tort Claimants in connection with the chapter 11 cases of Rite Aid Corporation, a Fortune 500 public company and one of America’s largest drugstore chains.
  • Intelsat: Counsel to an ad hoc group of creditors in the chapter 11 restructuring of $14.7 billion in liabilities of Intelsat, one of the largest satellite services providers in the world.
  • Strike: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 restructuring of $300 million in liabilities of Strike, one of North America’s largest pipeline and energy infrastructure providers.
