Biography
  • Practice concentrates on restructuring litigation, complex commercial litigation and government investigations for public and private companies and investment funds.

Erin Parlar primarily focuses his practice on litigation.  Erin’s practice extends to a number of areas, including:

  • Restructuring litigation

Before joining Akin, Erin was an associate in the litigation department of a large Manhattan law firm. 

Representative Work
  • Represented the official committee of unsecured creditors of company in maximizing value of creditor recovery through investigation of estate claims, including fraudulent transfer, breach of fiduciary duty and preference claims.
  • Managed an internal investigation of a multinational bank into its employees’ personal device usage in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Supported a multinational bank client in responding to subpoena regarding the bank’s trading practices and compliance with its fair pricing and execution obligations.
  • Represented a fund client in complex commercial litigation proceeding in New York state court regarding loan and exclusivity agreements.
  • Advised company debtholders in connection with liability management transactions proposed by company.
  • Represented a multinational bank in a confidential Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigation in connection with its mutual fund and advisory programs.*
  • Defended a private equity fund client in a suit alleging breach of contract and fraud in connection with a stock placement agreement. The plaintiff sought an exorbitant amount of damages and defendant won dismissal of all of plaintiff’s claims in arbitration, receiving attorneys fees and costs.*
  • Represented a publicly traded utility company in a mass tort lawsuit where plaintiffs sought exorbitant damages and the client was exposed to reputational harm. Helped the client receive significant savings via settlements with certain counterparties.*
  • Assisted the underwriters to a major social media company’s initial public offering (IPO) in a securities litigation matter, achieving a settlement that realized significant cost savings to the clients.*
