Jaylia is an associate in the international trade practice. She advises clients on matters involving international trade policy and regulatory and policy developments related to trade. She also advises clients on enforcement and compliance issues related to U.S. export controls and economic sanctions, customs and import controls, and compliance with international trade laws and regulations.
Prior to joining Akin, Jaylia was a judicial intern for U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Jaylia earned a J.D., cum laude, and M.A. in Public Policy from Harvard Law School, and a M.A. in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, where she served as articles editor and submissions reader for the International Law Journal and as associate editor of the Kennedy School Review. During law school, Jaylia was a student attorney at the Cyberlaw Clinic. Jaylia also served as a served as an admissions and career counseling fellow, and the co-conference and alumni chair of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and as co-president of the Harvard Kennedy & Harvard Law Joint Degree Law Students Association. She earned multiple B.S. degrees in Economics and Political Science and a B.A. in Global Studies, summa cum laude, from Arizona State University in 2018.
