Akin Gump Advises Regency Energy Board of Directors’ Conflicts Committee in $1.5B Acquisition of Southern Union Gathering Co.

(Houston) - A team from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP advised the conflicts committee of the Regency Energy Partners board of directors in Regency’s $1.5 billion cash and stock acquisition of Southern Union Gathering Company, owner of Southern Union Gas Services Ltd. The deal, which will expand Regency’s footprint in the Permian Basin, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2013.

Houston energy partners Christine LaFollette, who serves as partner in charge of the office, and John Goodgame, co-head of the energy industry group, and Houston tax partner W. Thomas Weir led the effort for the firm. Counsel Andrew Lehman also worked on the engagement.
