(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump pro bono client Appleseed, a nonprofit network of 17 public justice centers in the United States and Mexico, has released a comprehensive review of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, providing guidance for its improvement and implementing a more permanent immigration reform solution.
As part of the review, which can be found by clicking here, Akin Gump conducted interviews with lawyers representing DACA applicants and with applicants themselves. DACA directs the Department of Homeland Security to exercise prosecutorial discretion and defer the deportation of certain undocumented immigrants that arrived in the United States as children.
The Akin Gump team working with Appleseed was led by pro bono partner Steven Schulman. It included counsel Amjad Mahmood Khan and associate Erica Abshez.
Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 850 attorneys in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
