Akin Gump Promotes 11 to Partnership

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP today announced the election of 11 new partners, effective January 1. The 11 individuals are Carlos M. Bermudez (Los Angeles), Stacey R. Eisenstein (Washington, D.C.), Tony D. Feuerstein (New York), Bernd G. Janzen (Washington, D.C.), Amanda R. Johnson (Washington, D.C.), Frederick T. Lee (New York), Barbara Niederkofler (New York/London), Raphael A. Prober (Washington, D.C.), Gabriel J. Procaccini (Houston), Michelle Reed (Dallas) and Joshua R. Williams (New York).

Mr. Bermudez is a member of the firm’s corporate practice. He represents a diverse array of clients, including publicly and privately held companies and private equity funds, in acquisitions, mergers, corporate finance, securities and general corporate matters. Mr. Bermudez received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2002 and his B.A. from Princeton University in 1998.

Ms. Eisenstein is a member of the firm’s labor and employment practice. She works with employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, with an emphasis on arbitration and complex matters before federal courts and administrative agencies. Ms. Eisenstein received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2000 and her B.A. from Emory University in 1995.

Mr. Feuerstein is a member of the firm’s corporate practice. He focuses on representing clients in a broad range of public and private M&A transactions, including negotiated and unsolicited transactions, tender and exchange offers, mergers, leveraged buyouts, stock and asset purchases, divestitures and cross-border transactions. Mr. Feuerstein received his J.D. and his MPA from Harvard Law School in 2001 and his B.A. cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1995.

Mr. Janzen is a member of the firm’s international trade practice, advising U.S. and foreign clients on a range of trade litigation proceedings, including antidumping, countervailing duty and trade preference proceedings. He also advises clients on matters before U.S. Customs and Border Protection, compliance with U.S. export control laws administered by the U.S. departments of Commerce and State and various trade policy matters before the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and other government entities. Mr. Janzen received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 1996, his MIA degree from Columbia University in 1992 and his B.A. cum laude from Bethel College in 1988.

Ms. Johnson is a member of the firm’s intellectual property practice. Her practice focuses on complex litigation, with an emphasis on patent infringement disputes and damages analyses. She covers a wide array of technologies, including electronics, telecommunications, computer software and agricultural chemicals. Ms. Johnson received her J.D. with honors from George Washington University Law School in 2004 and her B.S. magna cum laude from the University of Oklahoma in 2001.

Mr. Lee is a member of the firm’s corporate practice, where he concentrates on private equity-related corporate finance transactions, including acquisition and distressed financing. He received his J.D. and B.A. from Yale University in 2004 and 1999, respectively.

Ms. Niederkofler is a member of the firm’s investment funds practice. She is principally engaged in the representation of private investment funds and their sponsors and focuses on the formation and operation of fund complexes. Her practice extends to both hedge and private equity funds. Ms. Niederkofler received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2003 and her B.A. summa cum laude from Yale University in 2000.

Mr. Prober is a member of the firm’s public law and policy practice. His practice focuses on representing companies and individuals in all aspects of congressional investigations, as well as in connection with investigations by various executive branch departments, commissions and agencies. Mr. Prober received his J.D. cum laude and his B.S. magna cum laude from Georgetown University in 2003 and 2000, respectively.

Mr. Procaccini is a member of the firm's energy and global transactions practice.  He is principally engaged in representing domestic and international oil and gas companies in transactions involving all phases of the energy business, including exploration and production activities, midstream ventures, infrastructure projects and financing matters. Mr. Procaccini received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2004 and his M.B.A. and his B.B.A. magna cum laude from Loyola University in Maryland in 1994 and 1993, respectively.

Ms. Reed is a member of the firm’s litigation practice. She focuses on complex civil litigation matters, with an emphasis on representing public companies and their officers and directors in securities litigation, internal investigations, regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings. Ms. Reed received her J.D. summa cum laude and her B.A. with honors from Brigham Young University in 2003 and 1999, respectively.

Mr. Williams is a member of the firm’s tax practice. He advises clients on a broad range of U.S. and international tax matters, with a focus on the formation and operation of domestic and offshore private investment funds and on the tax aspects of project finance and renewable energy transactions. Mr. Williams received his LL.M. from New York University in 2003. He received his J.D. cum laude and his B.S. summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2002 and 1999, respectively.
