Scott Parven, a partner in Akin Gump’s public law and policy practice, was quoted by Bloomberg News in the article “Japan Hires Top Lobbyists to Woo Congress on Trade Pact.”

Parven, as the article reports, is leading the Akin Gump team that has been advocating on behalf of the Japanese government to secure passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement. The legislation would expedite congressional approval of trade deals, calling for an up-or-down vote with limited debate and no amendments.

Parven said Japanese officials “needed to put together an effort to rebuild relationships and to educate policymakers and stakeholders on what the new Japan is all about and what their priorities were, and why the U.S.-Japan relationship was so critical.”
