Michael Asaro, a partner in Akin Gump’s litigation practice, and Eric Komitee, the general counsel of Viking Global Investors, jointly wrote the article “The Evolving Landscape of ‘Corporate Access’,” which appeared in the New York Law Journal.

The article discusses meetings that often take place between managers of publicly traded corporations and institutional investors, and the questions raised by the Securities and Exchange Commission as to whether these meetings result in any improper exchange of privileged information.

In addition to describing the context in which these meetings typically take place, the authors review the legitimate reasons for such meetings, assess their legal risks and offer some “best practices” for managing those risks.
