Nicole Sprinzen Authors InsideCounsel Article on Resolving Parallel Criminal and Civil Litigation

InsideCounsel published an article by Akin Gump senior counsel Nicole Sprinzen on the ways in which a company can minimize damage when facing parallel criminal and civil proceedings. Sprinzen is a member of the firm’s white collar defense and corporate investigations practice and a former federal prosecutor.

Sprinzen writes that a coordinated resolution “will often benefit a company in terms of the fines and penalties that it is required to pay for conduct in violation of criminal or civil laws or regulations.” With regard to private civil litigation, she advises to ensure that “government proceedings are resolved in advance of the conduct of private civil litigation,” in order to “protect the company from suffering increased government scrutiny.”

Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 850 attorneys in offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
