Akin Gump congressional investigations partner Raphael Prober has been named among Law360’s top young white collar attorneys in conjunction with the publication’s “Rising Stars” list.
Among the engagements spotlighted in Law360’s profile on Prober is his representation of Countrywide Financial Corp. in connection with a number of investigations regarding the bank’s VIP Loan Unit and “Friends of Angelo” loans, which resulted in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) filing no charges in the matter and a finding of no violations of House or Senate rules.
This representation included investigations by the DOJ, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Senate Select Committee on Ethics and House Ethics Committee. To that, Prober said, “the Countrywide investigation certainly presented layers of legal and political complexity, but it was as rewarding as it was challenging,”
The article went on to quote Akin Gump congressional investigations practice head Steven Ross on Prober’s legal prowess, work ethic and interpersonal skills: “He possesses a gifted legal mind, and this acumen allows him to anticipate and resolve thorny legal issues on behalf of clients. His devotion to making sure that everything that should be done, is done and done well, allows us to provide the very best service to clients.”
This is the second consecutive year that an Akin Gump attorney was named a Law360 “Rising Star” in the area of white collar litigation: New York partner Michael Asaro took home the honor in 2013.
