Chicago Tribune, in its article “Baucus says finance panel will consider tax rewrite in 2013,” quoted Akin Gump tax policy partner Robert Leonard on Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus’ statement that the committee will consider reforming the U.S. tax code this year.

Leonard, who served as chief counsel and chief majority tax counsel to the House Ways and Means Committee, noted that Sen. Baucus must roll out a proposal that captures consensus on his committee, adding “A chairman usually does not—and in this case won't—go into a room with a lot of surprises.”
