Felix Lebron’s practice focuses on complex commercial civil litigation. Mr. Lebron has represented his clients in a variety of litigation matters, including contract, business tort, unfair competition, energy and real estate disputes. Mr. Lebron has significant experience representing energy companies in disputes involving power purchase and fuel supply agreements, credit facilities and global warming tort claims. In addition, he has significant real estate litigation experience representing international investment funds in foreclosure and guaranty proceedings, and luxury hotels in a variety of disputes. He represents clients through all stages of litigation in both state and federal court and in domestic and international arbitration proceedings, and has successfully argued numerous case dispositive motions and appeals.

Energy Disputes

  • represents international energy company in a dispute regarding power purchase agreements for 524MW renewable energy power plant in Texas
  • represented international energy company in dispute regarding fuel supply agreement in proceedings governed under New York, London and international maritime law
  • represents international power company in an insurance coverage dispute of first impression regarding commercial general liability (“CGL”) policies for property damage allegedly resulting from global warming tort claims
  • represents international energy company in a high profile global warming lawsuit brought against several of the leading energy producers in the world for damages to real property in Alaska allegedly caused by the emission of greenhouse gas and the effects of global warming on coastal erosion
  • represented international energy company in a global warming lawsuit brought against leading energy companies allegedly responsible for global warming, which, in turn, caused or exacerbated the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the persons and property of the Gulf Coast region
  • represents energy company in dispute against various contractors involving the demolition of a power plant in Southern California

Real Estate Disputes

  • represents luxury hotel owner in a dispute against well known luxury hotel management company in connection with claims for breach of contract and fiduciary duty for violations of a radius restriction contained in a hotel management agreement
  • represents international investment fund in foreclosure, receivership, and guaranty actions in California for multiple loan portfolios purchased from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as receiver for various failed U.S. banks
  • represented investment fund against a home developer in foreclosure and receivership proceedings for defaulting on loans secured by thousands of acres of undeveloped land in Southern California
  • represented hedge fund against developer in foreclosure and guaranty action involving hundreds of acres of undeveloped real property in Southern California and Nevada
  • represented investment bank in commercial lease dispute involving early lease termination resulting from structural damage to the office building

Commercial Disputes

  • represented a leading Wall Street investment bank in connection with film finance deal enmeshed in one of the largest insurance rehabilitation proceeding in the U.S.
  • represented well known satellite television company in international arbitration and federal action in the Southern District of New York against claims brought by a minority shareholder alleging breach of contract, fiduciary duty and fraud claims
  • represented ticket service provider in a class-action lawsuit seeking damages for alleged unfair competition claims challenging delivery and order processing fees
  • represented national bank against breach of contract, interference, unfair competition, and other tort claims seeking damages in connection unfair business practices and excessive consumer charge backs
  • represented international advertising company against contract, tort and unfair competition claims regarding an advertising concession for a major international airport authority
  • represented national lighting manufacturer in arbitration against tort claims in regarding a major Los Angeles County construction project
  • represented luxury hotel in Beverly Hills in arbitration against claims for employment law violations
  • represents creator of well known animated musical group in breach of contract and royalty action against major record label
  • represented major video game publishing company in multiple royalty lawsuits against video game developers

Mr. Lebron served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1999-2007, where he received numerous honors and awards for his service and leadership abilities. He was a judicial extern for the Honorable Saundra Brown Armstrong, District Court Judge for the Northern District of California in 2002.

Mr. Lebron earned his J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 2004. While at Boalt, he received, among other awards, the American Jurisprudence Award for Civil Trial Practice, the Moot Court Award for Best Written Brief, and he served as the executive chairman of Boalt’s Moot Court Board. He earned his B.A. summa cum laude from the University of California at Riverside in 2001, where he was selected as a University of California Research Scholar.

In 2006, Mr. Lebron received the California State Bar Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Services for his significant pro bono work in the field of disability rights. From 2007 – 2009, he was an Advisory Board Member of the Western Center for Law and Poverty.

Mr. Lebron is a member of the California Bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and in all of the U.S. District Courts in California. He is also a member of the California State Bar’s and Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Litigation and Real Estate Sections.
