Ingrid Cheng focuses on corporate, funds and real estate matters, including RMB fund formation, private equity/venture capital financing, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, antimonopoly law, foreign direct investments, capital markets, taxation, liquidation and bankruptcy. She has extensive PRC legal experience and a deep understanding of China’s business practices, having represented clients in over 200 litigation cases before the Chinese tribunals for commercial and/or corporate disputes. In addition, Ms. Cheng has represented major dollar funds and/or institutions in investing in China and establishing cross-border structures and special purpose vehicles, as well as assisted in Chinese company investigations initiated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Ms. Cheng was associated with a major Wall Street law firm. She also served as a partner in the biggest Chinese law firm, Dacheng, where she advised on A-share listings and provided services for state-owned enterprises.
Ms. Cheng received her B.A. from Northwest University of Politics and Law in China and her L.L.M. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in the United States. She is a member of the American Bar Association as well as the All China Lawyers Association.
