Jenny Walters’ practice involves a wide range of business litigation in federal and state courts throughout the country, including commercial contract disputes, business torts, bankruptcy, and fraud actions.
Ms. Walters also represents public companies, directors and officers, and broker-dealers in securities fraud class actions, shareholder derivative lawsuits, internal or regulatory investigations, and FINRA securities arbitrations. Additionally, Ms. Walters provides litigation advice to hedge funds, private equity funds, and other investment funds and vehicles, as well as to the managers of these funds, and their investors concerning suspensions of redemptions, liquidity issues, management and control matters, fund dissolutions and management fee disputes.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Ms. Walters served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Paul Stickney of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas in Dallas.
Ms. Walters received her B.S. in communication studies from the University of Texas in 2004. She received her J.D. in 2007 from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was an associate editor of the Washington University Law Review. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association and Attorneys Serving the Community, and was selected as a member of the 2010-2011 Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Leadership Class. Ms. Walters also serves on the board of directors of the Southwest Jewish Congress and on the council for The Younger Set, an organization of young women dedicated to community and philanthropic involvement.
In 2010 and 2012, Ms. Walters was named in a survey of her peers as an “Outstanding Lawyer Under 40” by the Cardozo Society of the Jewish Federation.
