James Sherry’s practice focuses on white collar criminal defense and civil litigation.

Mr. Sherry has represented clients at all stages of civil and criminal proceedings in state and federal court, including discovery, trial and appeal. Mr. Sherry has also represented clients in hearings before Congress and in administrative proceedings before a variety federal and state agencies including the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Office of Special Counsel and state bar disciplinary authorities.

Mr. Sherry has represented clients pro bono in civil and criminal matters including a prisoner innocence claim, prisoner disability claim, death penalty appeal and defense of a felony assault prosecution. Mr. Sherry is part of Lambda Legal’s Cooperating Attorney Network, providing pro bono legal services in matters of concern to the LGBT community.

Mr. Sherry received his B.A. with highest distinction in 2002 from the University of Michigan, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his J.D. with honors in 2005 from the George Washington University Law School. Mr. Sherry returned to George Washington Law as an adjunct professor of Legal Research and Writing during the 2009-2010 academic year.

Mr. Sherry is a member of the Massachusetts and District of Columbia bars.
