Jessica M. Weisel's practice focuses on appellate litigation matters.
Ms. Weisel has extensive experience authoring appellate briefs and writs in the 9th Circuit, the California Courts of Appeal and the California Supreme Court. She has handled numerous appeals and trial court litigation in both state and federal courts involving defamation, misappropriation, unfair competition, employment discrimination, false advertising, federal preemption, statutory construction, fraud, copyrights, environmental law, contracts, bankruptcy and class actions.
Ms. Weisel is the co-author of "The After-Acquired Evidence Doctrine: Is There Life After McKennon," California Employment Law Reporter (1995), and "Developments in Libel and Privacy Law: Newsgathering & Libel Litigation 2000," Practicing Law Institute (2000).
Ms. Weisel received her B.A. in 1991 from Grinnell College, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. in 1994 from Yale Law School, where she was the senior editor of the Yale Law Journal. She is a member of the California Bar and is admitted to practice before all of the U.S. District Courts in California and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 9th and 10th Circuits. Super Lawyers magazine has named Ms. Weisel a Southern California Rising Star for five consecutive years.
