Kelly Labritz’s practice focuses on advising sponsors of, and investors in, investment funds, including leveraged buyout, international and other private equity funds. Ms. Labritz also advises clients, including investment funds and other public and privately held companies, in their domestic and cross border acquisitions and dispositions of businesses and related financings.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Ms. Labritz was a partner focusing on mergers and acquisitions in the corporate group of a top international law firm.
Her recent representations include—
- advising large institutional sponsor and manager of private equity funds in connection with the structuring, negotiating and drafting of its carried interest arrangements with investment professionals on a world-wide basis
- representing a sovereign wealth investor in connection with its investment in a large US-based investment Fund and subsequent follow-on investments
- assisting a privately-held registered in investment advisor in connection with the disposition of its asset management business
- representing the unsecured creditors’ committee of a NYSE-listed company in connection with the chapter 11 section 363 sale of the company’s assets.
Ms. Labritz received her B.A. in 1988 from the University of Arizona and her J.D. cum laude in 1991 from the University of Bridgeport School of Law, where she was the managing editor of the University of Bridgeport Law Review. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar and is awaiting admission to the New York Bar.
