Kathryn Murtagh is primarily engaged in the representation of private investment funds and their sponsors. Ms. Murtagh’s practice focuses on the establishment, operation and organization of private investment funds, including hedge funds, fund of funds and private equity funds, in a variety of jurisdictions and employing various investment strategies. She has acted on behalf of both sponsors and investors in relation to funds with regard to a range of transactions.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Ms. Murtagh trained and was an associate at a large London-based international firm.
Ms. Murtagh received her M.A. with honors in jurisprudence from St Peter’s College, Oxford in 2002 and gained a distinction in the Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice in 2003. She was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2006.
Ms. Murtagh is licensed to practice in England & Wales only and under the supervision of the partners of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Ms. Murtagh's application for admission to the New York Bar is pending.
