Marcia Nelson Jackson's practice includes all aspects of employment and labor law, client counseling, training and internal investigations. In addition to representing employers in single and multi-plaintiff employment lawsuits under statutes such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act and state laws, Ms. Jackson represents clients in wage and hour collective actions filed under the Fair Labor Standards Act, as well as disputes involving non-competition covenants and employee benefits litigation. She assists employers in avoiding litigation through regular training, policy updates and implementation. Ms. Jackson's clients include employers in state and federal courts throughout Texas and California, as well as before administrative agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, United States Department of Labor and National Labor Relations Board. Her clients span in size from local Dallas area businesses to global companies with employees worldwide.
Ms. Jackson received her B.A. with departmental honors in 1990 from the University of California at Los Angeles, where she received the UCLA President's Award. She received her J.D. in 1994 from the Vanderbilt University School of Law, where she was the executive authorities editor of the
Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law. She is a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the California State Bar Association and a lifetime member of the UCLA Alumni Association.
Ms. Jackson is a regular speaker on current issues important to employers. Her most recent presentations have included topics such as blogging in the workplace. She serves on the Employment Law Editorial Advisory Board for Strafford Publications and is a regular presenter on their nationwide teleconference Continuing Legal Education Programs, most recently speaking on Online Social Networking and its impact on employers. She has been a presenter to the National Academy of Arbitrators and a contributing editor to
the Texas Employment Law treatise. She was recognized as a "Rising Star" among her peers in
Texas Super Lawyer. She is the co-author of "Sexual Harassment investigations - Cues, Clues and How Tos" (
The Labor Lawyer) and formerly served as a contributing editor to the Schlei & Grossman treatise
Employment Discrimination Law.
