McLean Peña’s practice focuses on complex litigation matters, with particular emphasis on insurance coverage litigation.

Ms. Peña defends domestic and foreign insurers in litigation in federal and state courts arising out of directors and officers, professional liability, technology and media and accidental death and dismemberment coverage. Ms. Peña’s work has involved disputes ranging from one million to more than one hundred million dollars.

Ms. Peña’s experience also includes assisting in the defense of insured entities, including a law firm sued for malpractice by a former client and a drug manufacturer and distributor sued for wrongful death and bodily injury in a class action litigated in federal court.

Ms. Peña’s pro bono practice focuses on immigration matters. She has represented immigrants in asylum proceedings and in the Violence Against Women Act self-petition process.

Ms. Peña received her B.A. in English in 2001 from Davidson College and her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2007, where she was editor-in-chief of the Inter-American Law Review, a clinical fellow in the Center for Ethics and Public Service and elected to Order of the Coif. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Peña worked at Duke University Medical Center coordinating clinical trials in the adult and pediatric bone marrow transplant clinics.

Ms. Peña is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Florida Bar. Ms. Peña is currently a member of the San Antonio office’s diversity committee.
