Omar Hashmi’s practice focuses on a variety of domestic and international corporate matters.  Mr. Hashmi has represented public and private corporations, as well as venture and private equity funds, in domestic and cross-border transactions concerning acquisitions, divestitures and mergers in negotiated scenarios, as well as private and public offerings, restructurings, joint ventures and other significant securities and corporate matters.

Mr. Hashmi’s representative transactions include serving as counsel to—

  • a private global investment firm with transactions related to its multimillion-dollar investment in a television broadcasting company
  • a public manufacturer of recreation vehicles on a $210 million acquisition of a privately held manufacturer of towable recreation vehicles
  • an emerging markets venture fund in providing investment and restructuring advice to its portfolio companies located in South Africa and Zambia
  • a public energy company on a $485 million and an $80 million asset sale
  • a privately held securities company in an equity offering for its ethylene transport business assets
  • a government-related investment entity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in acquiring a minority investment of a U.S.-based global asset management firm.

Mr. Hashmi received his J.D. from Howard University School of Law and an M.B.A in finance from Howard University School of Business in 2009. While in law school, Mr. Hashmi was a member of the Howard Law Journal. Mr. Hashmi received his B.A. in business administration from the California State University, Fresno in 2001. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.
