Philip M. Abelson’s practice focuses on debtors’ and creditors’ rights and corporate restructurings.
Mr. Abelson represents debtors, official and unofficial committees, creditors, bondholders and third parties in connection with both in-court and out-of-court restructurings. Mr. Abelson’s recent engagements have involved a number of different industries, including television broadcasting, airlines, telecommunications, residential roofing materials and automotive parts manufacturing.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Mr. Abelson was an associate at Weil Gotshal & Manges. He received his B.A. in 1997 from Indiana University and his J.D. in 2000 from the University of Michigan School of Law. He is a member of the New York and California (inactive) Bars and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District New York.
