Patrick B. Fenn co-heads the tax practice group in the New York office and was one of the founding partners of that office in April 1993.
Mr. Fenn focuses on providing taxation advice to domestic and offshore investment funds and to fund managers. In addition, he has extensive experience in the area of international taxation and has been involved in the structuring of major inbound and outbound multijurisdictional mergers and acquisitions. He is experienced in the structuring of complex multiparty international business transactions so as to harmonize the tax needs of the different parties and provide the most favorable tax treatment to each. He has provided tax advice on transactions in many different regions of the world (North America, Latin America, Europe, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Asia), including advice on issues concerning host country tax treatment. Mr. Fenn also has significant experience in partnership taxation matters, particularly in the context of investment funds and real estate transactions, real estate investment trusts (REITs) and the taxation of financial derivatives.
Mr. Fenn earned his B.A. with honors in 1977 and his J.D. in 1982 from the University of Virginia. He is a member of the New York Bar. In 2003 he was selected for inclusion in Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Tax Advisers.
