Patrick Mabry’s practice focuses on international business transactions, project development, acquisitions, joint ventures and financings.

Mr. Mabry's representations include—

  • a major U.S. private equity firm in connection with asset acquisitions and various corporate matters
  • underwriter's counsel in the listing of a Cayman special purpose acquisition vehicle on Euronext raising € 600 million
  • a Canadian independent oil and gas company in connection with the negotiation of agreements with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq for interests in certain blocks in production sharing contract areas
  • a Cypriot independent oil and gas company in the admission and placing of a portion of its common shares on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange plc
  • a Cypriot independent oil and gas company in its $148 million acquisition of an oil, condensate and gas field and transportation and treating facilities in East Siberia, Russia, and private placement of equity to finance the acquisition
  • a Cypriot independent oil and gas company in its $130 million project development loan arranged by a leading investment bank
  • a major U.S. telecommunications company in the divesture of its assets in India
  • a Luxembourg exploration and production company in its $1.08 billion fundraising
  • a major U.S. financial institution in connection with the acquisition and redeployment of six coal-based synthetic fuel manufacturing facilities qualifying for tax credits and the subsequent monetization of interests in such facilities and the associated tax credits
  • a major U.S. bank in connection with a reserve-based acquisition credit facility secured by oil and gas properties in various states in the United States
  • a U.S. independent oil and gas company in connection with various oil- and gas-related transactions and related landowner issues
  • a foreign independent oil and gas company in connection with the negotiation of a stock purchase agreement and a farmout agreement covering oil and gas properties in India
  • a U.S. independent oil and gas company in connection with the negotiation of an oil and gas exploration and development agreement
  • a U.S. independent oil and gas company in connection with the negotiation of a reserve-based acquisition credit facility secured by oil and gas properties in New Mexico

Before joining Akin Gump, Mr. Mabry spent several years working in Houston, Texas, with another leading international law firm.

Mr. Mabry received his B.A. with high honors in economics in 1997 and his J.D. with honors in 2000 from the University of Texas, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
