"Through our collaboration with Akin Gump, banks and credit unions in Texas are now recognizing the importance of reaching out to unbanked communities and having the tools to navigate the unique regulatory issues involved in serving these communities. We are particularly appreciative of the firm's long-term commitment to this project. Akin Gump has been advising us since 2003. In this time, and in large part because of the firm's important work, we have seen a major shift in the banking industry. The expertise in banking issues that Akin Gump brings to our team, and the hundreds of pro bono hours the firm has devoted (sometimes under very short deadlines), have been crucial to us. Akin Gump's partnership in helping us research legal and regulatory issues and identify new strategies has been a major factor in the ongoing success of this work."
