Richard J. Codding’s practice focuses on patent, trademark, trade dress, trade secret and related unfair competition litigation in federal and state courts and Section 337 litigation before the U.S. International Trade Commission. Mr. Codding counsels clients on patent validity and infringement, copyright, trademark and related antitrust issues, and drafts and negotiates intellectual property licensing agreements and distribution agreements.
Mr. Codding received his B.E.E. with highest honors in 1966 from the Georgia Institute of Technology, his M.S.E.E. in 1966 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his J.D. from Harvard University in 1969. He is a member of the California and New York Bars and is admitted to practice before numerous U.S. circuit courts of appeals; the U.S. district courts for the Northern and Central Districts of California, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the Eastern District of Wisconsin; and the U.S. International Trade Commission. Mr. Codding is a member of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association, and lectures at various Practicing Law Institute programs on patent litigation.
