Roberta F. Colton’s practice includes acquisitions and sales of commercial real estate, including office buildings, hotels, apartment complexes, and timberlands; commercial leasing of office and retail space; real estate lending; and the negotiation, drafting and analysis of complex agreements for the operation of partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations, primarily in the business of acquiring, developing and operating commercial real estate projects.
Ms. Colton’s transactional practice includes representation of—
- the owners of office buildings in downtown Washington, D.C., mid-town Manhattan, and northern Virginia in the negotiation of leases
- a Fortune 500 company, start-up hedge funds, retail businesses, and not-for-profit institutions in negotiating office leases and subleases in downtown Washington, D.C., Manhattan, and Chevy Chase, Maryland
- REIT in connection with the acquisition of multiple hotels located throughout the United States
- a supermarket chain in connection with its leasing activities throughout the southeastern and Atlantic regions
- a start-up financial services firm in connection with the negotiation of a joint venture agreement with a major big box retailer
- the owner of a chain of restaurants in the sale of its assets, including the assignment of its leases
- the owner of performing and charged off credit card receivables in connection with the servicing and sale of such receivables
Ms. Colton received her B.A. from Stanford University and her J.D. from the UCLA School of Law where she graduated Order of the Coif. She is a member of the District of Columbia and California (inactive) Bars.
