Shar Ahmed’s practice focuses on securities law, with an emphasis on capital markets transactions. Mr. Ahmed regularly represents issuers, underwriters and purchasers in registered and private securities offerings of debt and equity securities. Mr. Ahmed also represents public and private companies with respect to various corporate law and governance matters, with a particular focus on representing public energy companies. In addition, Mr. Ahmed represents acquirors and targets in both public and private company mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Ahmed’s recent representations include—

  • issuers and underwriters of debt and equity securities in ten capital markets transactions over a twelve month period with an aggregate amount of capital raised in excess of $5 billion
  • a privately held target company in its acquisition by a publicly traded Special Purpose Acquisition Company
  • a New York Stock Exchange listed service company in its all stock acquisition of another New York Stock Exchange listed company in a transaction valued in excess of $1.2 billion.

Mr. Ahmed received his B.B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995 and his J.D. in 2001 from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a member of the Business Law Review.  He is a member of the Texas Bar.

Mr. Ahmed has been recognized as a leading lawyer in 2010 by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business in the area of corporate/M&A.
