Steven M. Pesner is a partner in the New York office. Mr. Pesner provides problem solving and strategic advice and counseling to leading private equity and investment management funds, foreign government owned entities and large domestic and international public and private entities involved in high-profile domestic and international business transactions and litigations.

Mr. Pesner is experienced in many types of major federal, state and foreign litigations and arbitrations, especially class actions, securities actions, bankruptcy cases, RICO claims and other complex factual and legal cases. As lead counsel in complex litigations, he has supervised the preparation of global multidefendant strategies; argued dispositive multidefendant motions; and coordinated large, factually and legally complex, multidefendant cases, trials and settlements. In addition, he has supervised local counsel in numerous actions across the United States and in foreign countries. Mr. Pesner also has significant experience in alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation, and has served as an arbitrator in complex cases.

Mr. Pesner also is experienced in many types of domestic and international business transactions involving public and private entities in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, the CIS, South Korea and Western Europe.

Mr. Pesner received his B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1967 and his J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1971. He is the co-author of "Choosing Lead Plaintiffs Under the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act: Who Shall Lead?" Securities Regulation Law Journal (Summer 1999). He is admitted to practice before the courts of the state of New York; the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 11th and District of Columbia Circuits; and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York and the District of Colorado. He has also served on the firm’s executive, management, strategic planning, litigation steering and other committees.

Mr. Pesner is a vice chairman of The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. (a modern dance theater located in New York) and a trustee of the New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York), the American Friends of the Paris Opera and Ballet (Paris and New York) and the Center for Khmer Studies (Siem Reap, Cambodia).
