Sharona Toobian’s practice focuses on project development, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate in the renewable energy industry.
Ms. Toobian received her B.A. in 2005 from Brandeis University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. in 2010 from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law, where she was copresident of the Jewish Law Students Association. While in law school, she completed the multidisciplinary Leaders in Sustainability Certificate Program.
Ms. Toobian is a member of the California Bar.
Representative Matters
- represented BrightSource Energy in the development and financing of the 392 MW Ivanpah Solar Energy Generating System in San Bernardino County, California, including negotiation of, and advice on, various project arrangements and $2.2 billion financing including $1.6 billion in construction and permanent debt guaranteed by U.S. Department of Energy under Innovative Technology Loan Guaranty Program
- represented a large U.S. energy developer in the acquisition of a 2.1 MW solar photovoltaic power project which uses an innovative, patent-pending structure covering a parking area adjacent to Sun Devil Stadium at Arizona State University, which will purchase the energy generated by the project
- represented developer in the $2 billion financing for the world's largest wind farm (845 MW) at the Caithness Shepherds Flat project in Oregon
- represented developer in connection with the development, construction, O&M and sale of various distributed generation solar PV projects in Southern California, including approximately 25 MW of capacity in operation, construction or with executed offtake arrangements.
