General Summary: 

Under the direct supervision of the Directors of the Project Management Office (PMO), the Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for the management of assigned projects and other process improvement related duties.  The Senior IT Project Manager is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.  The Senior IT Project Manager is also expected to contribute to the continued growth of the PMO.  Above all, the Senior IT Project Manager must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the firm’s Core Values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):

  • Lead or contribute to the planning and implementation of IT and other projects as assigned by the PMO Directors
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements
  • Develop or edit full scale project plans
  • Assemble, coordinate, lead and support project team
  • Track project budget, resource capacity, and project deliverables
  • Manage project resource allocation
  • Participate in the planning of project timelines
  • Provide or track quality assurance
  • Manage vendor or other third party relationships as needed
  • Regularly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • Maintain status reporting of all assigned projects and assist in generating periodic reports to the Chief Officers and other key stakeholders
  • Apply continuous process improvements and any new, proven relevant standards where appropriate
  • Conduct risk assessment for all assigned projects and ensure proper execution of the risk strategy throughout the projects lifecycle
  • Handle all other duties as assigned by the Directors of PMO or other firm management in a timely and productive manner

Other Essential Duties (Duties are performed periodically, as necessary):

  • Participate in reviews of firm personnel assigned to significant project roles as requested by their direct supervisor
  • Maintain and improve project management skills and abilities through continuing professional education and certifications

Core Applications and Hardware:

  • MS Office 2010 or higher
  • MS Project 2010 or higher
  • Knowledge of a PPM (Project Portfolio Management) application desired
  • Experience with Smartsheet desired

Educational Qualifications/Job Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or technical school diploma) strongly preferred
  • Qualification in Project Management (e.g. PMP) or equivalent certification is preferred, but not required
  • Proven experience in leading/coordinating large scale change management initiatives
  • Five to seven or more years of experience managing projects in a professional services environment
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Information Technology is required, preferably in a law firm environment
