Hiring Criteria

Akin Gump seeks exceptional students with outstanding academic credentials, law review or journal membership, moot court experience, previous work experience and excellent interpersonal skills. It is also important to us that a student live by the firm’s core values: Collegiality, Commitment, Excellence, Integrity and Intensity.

Interview and Hiring Process

Akin Gump actively recruits at 29 law schools across the country. After on-campus interviews, we invite selected students to our offices to meet additional lawyers. Interested students who do not attend one of the schools where we recruit, and first-year law students, may submit a cover letter, resume and transcript to the recruiting contact in their office of interest.

Although we fill the majority of first-year associate openings with our past summer associates, we occasionally interview 3Ls to supplement the class. Third-year law students may submit cover letters, resumes and transcripts for consideration.
