Obama Administration Sets Goal to Cut Methane Emissions by 40 to 45 Percent by 2025

As part of a strategy to prevent climate change, new and modified oil and gas operations will be required under a rule announced January 14 by the Obama administration to cut methane emissions by 40 to 45 percent by 2025 from 2012 levels. The plan is expected to be finalized in 2016.

The plan does not propose any new regulations for existing sources.
