While most virtual meeting services come with their own built in security features, there are additional steps that you and your company can take to safeguard your sensitive corporate information. These include limiting the reuse of access codes or issuing one-time access codes. If the information to be discussed is highly sensitive, consider requiring two-step authentication or distributing PINs at the last minute. Other low-tech safeguards such as asking all attendees to identify themselves and not recording a meeting unless it is necessary are simple, effective ways to help keep your information safe.

Knowing your organization’s policies, as well as following a few common sense security principals, are vital to help to prevent a costly security incident. Not every option needs to be implemented for each virtual meeting. Always measure the sensitivity of the topics to be discussed and logistics of the participants when selecting the security options you would like to enable.
