Work included negotiations with Indian banks, offshore banks and state and national governments in India, as well as conduct and supervision of numerous project-based arbitrations, shareholder arbitrations, political risk insurance arbitrations, bilateral investment treaty arbitrations and over 50 litigations in five different countries. A key feature of the workout involved the structuring and execution of a transfer by Enron of 90 percent of its $700 million economic interest in the project and associated bilateral investment treaty claims in exchange for $18 million (financed on a non-recourse basis by OPIC).
