Akin Gump’s Efforts on Behalf of NIVA Shortlisted for FT Innovative Lawyers North America Report
(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce that it has been named a finalist for the upcoming Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America awards.
The firm was shortlisted in the “Innovation in Rescue and Recovery” category for its efforts, led by Akin Gump public law and policy senior policy advisor Casey Higgins and partner Ed Pagano, on behalf of National Independent Venue Association (NIVA), whose advocacy work led Congress to the passage of the bipartisan Save Our Stages Act. Passed in December, the legislation provided $16 billion in grants to live entertainment venues, performing arts centers and movie theaters to survive the shutdown. Earlier this week, NIVA was recognized at the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony and Ms. Higgins and Mr. Pagano were named NLJ Entertainment Trailblazers for these efforts.
Winners of the Innovative Lawyers North America awards will be recognized at a virtual awards ceremony on December 9, with the report publishing in a supplement of Financial Times on December 10.
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
