Practice & Background

Mr. Hockensmith joined Akin Gump’s New York Office after practicing law in Houston and Kansas City. He has represented clients in litigation in federal and state courts, arbitration, regulatory challenges, and investigations. His practice has covered a broad range of subject matter, such as shareholder rights, breach of contract, patent infringement, insurance recovery, oil and gas royalties, trade secrets, government contracts, and pipeline tariffs. Mr. Hockensmith began his legal career by serving as a judicial clerk to Judge Carolyn Dineen King on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Mr. Hockensmith received his J.D. from Yale Law School and his B.A. from Washington and Lee University, where he graduated summa cum laude and with honors in Philosophy.
