Daniel T. Taskalos is an associate in the intellectual property (IP) practice.

Practice and Background

Mr. Taskalos has experience representing clients in complex patent litigation before the U.S. district courts, the United States International Trade Commission, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has experience in a wide range of technical fields through his patent litigation and prosecution work, including digital content distribution, compressed natural gas processing and distribution systems, MEMS device manufacture and uses, and terrestrial and satellite communications. Mr. Taskalos has counseled businesses on IP-related issues, including patent valuation and business planning.

Mr. Taskalos earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego in 2014. During law school, he served as an executive editor of the San Diego Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Taskalos received his B.S. with honors in engineering physics from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2008.

Prior to joining Akin Gump, Mr. Taskalos was an IP associate at an international law firm in San Diego and spent two years at BAE Systems Inc. as a systems engineer.
