James Campbell is a member of the Global Financial Services Regulatory group. He advises on the full scope of UK and EU financial services regulation affecting financial market participants based in the UK and internationally.
Mr. Campbell has advised on the implementation and impact of EU/UK regulatory reforms arising out of the recent financial crisis including MiFID II/MiFIR, EMIR, AIFMD, the EU benchmarks regulation (and the transition to alternative risk-free rates), regulatory capital, shadow banking reforms, and anti-money laundering. His background includes experience advising on futures/OTC derivatives clearing documentation and associated regulatory issues.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Mr. Campbell was senior regulatory counsel at a major Japanese financial institution following a number of years working at a leading law firm in London. James received his LLB Law with Advanced Studies degree (First Class Honours) from University College London in 2009.
