Jung Hwa Song is an associate in the international trade practice.

Practice & Background

Ms. Song helps advise U.S. and international clients on a range of international trade issues, including anticorruption, export controls and economic sanctions regimes. She has worked on investigations and helped develop compliance programs for clients in various industries, including private equity, aerospace and defense, shipping and logistics and extractive. She helps clients develop, audit and strengthen corporate social responsibility programs.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Song wrote, produced and managed all digital news content for the flagship news broadcast World News with Charles Gibson and helped investigate and report on various breaking national and international news stories at ABC News headquarters in New York. She also served as the Asia Pacific editor for Foreign Policy Digest.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Song worked on track-two diplomatic efforts at the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, where she produced research on Chinese urban planning and green buildings that was presented at the first sustainable development conference between U.S. and Chinese mayors. Later, as a risk management consultant, Ms. Song conducted sensitive due diligence investigations for investments in the extractive industries in Eastern Europe and Russia and also made recommendations for associated corporate responsibility projects.

Ms. Song was an Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP Pro Bono Scholar in 2012 and a member of Akin Gump’s 2013 summer associate class.
