Valerie Xie is a member of the firm’s corporate practice and focuses on mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment. She also focuses on international arbitration and dispute resolution.
Practice & Background
Ms. Xie has assisted clients in conducting due diligence, negotiating and documenting a number of cross-border transactions in the energy, natural resources, and railway sectors.
Before joining Akin Gump, Ms. Xie was an intern in the Chambers in HK (Des Voeux Chambers) of Ms Teresa Cheung (Chairman of HKIAC and Vice-president of ICC).
Ms. Xie received her LL.M. (majored in business and commercial law) from Tsinghua Law School, B.E from Tsinghua Chemical Engineering and Industrial Bioengineering Department. She also participated in the International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Program at Tsinghua. She has passed the PRC bar exam. She is a Mandarin native speaker and is fluent in English.
Ms. Xie’s recent engagements include:
- Represent Jiangxi Copper in a cross-border transaction;
- Represent a SOE to acquire shares in a foreign coal company;
- Represent a well-known construction company to apply for setting aside an award about a construction project dispute;
- Represent a Chinese paper machine manufacturing company in a paper machine trade dispute arbitration.
