Adam Umanoff Outlines Three Renewable Energy Game Changers

Renewable Energy World interviewed global project finance practice co-head Adam Umanoff for its article “Utility-scale Renewable Energy Development in the US Faces Obstacles in 2014” as a follow-up to his presentation at Akin Gump’s December 4 energy media briefing.

The article uses as its point of departure Umanoff’s statement at the briefing concerning “the beginning of the end…for renewable energy in the United States.”  When interviewed, he outlined three obstacles in the way of utility-scale renewable energy for America—low load growth, cheap natural gas, distributed generation solar—and offered possible solutions: retiring generation, cost-competitive renewables/policy support and financing, respectively.
