Adam Umanoff Profiled as a Law360 Project Finance MVP

Adam Umanoff, a partner in Akin Gump’s global project finance practice, was profiled by Law360 as one of the publication’s 2013 Project Finance MVPs.

Law360 noted Umanoff’s career work “shaping the renewable energy landscape” and focused on his work counseling SunPower in the development and sale of its 580 megawatt Antelope Valley solar project to Berkshire Hathaway’s solar unit, MidAmerican Solar.  That project will be the largest solar facility in the world upon completion.

The publication listed several of Umanoff’s other 2013 engagements, such as his representation of NRG Energy and PsomasFMG LLC, in the $60 million financing of a portfolio of Southern California commercial solar projects and of Portland General Electric Co. in the purchase from Puget Sound Energy of assets for a 300 megawatt wind project for construction in the state of Washington.

Umanoff summed up his professional philosophy for Law360: “Project finance is a neat place to be as a lawyer because we draw on a lot of disciplines—equity finance, debt finance, construction, development—just about every discipline of a commercial lawyer comes to bear working on projects. You’re also in a market where you are doing something that helps our globe and it’s going to help my children and their children and all future generations combat global warming.”
